by T Itoh
International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 10, No. 3, 1989

Abstract: This Technical Note details the Subaru Legacy, a newly-designed compact car, powered by an entirely newly developed 1.8 and 2.0 litre horizontally-opposed engine. Engines are equipped with both manual and automatic transmission in FWD and 4WD. The suspension is a 4-wheel independent strut suspension with enough wheel stroke and low friction to offer a high level of driving performance. In full-time 4WD models, it is fitted with a 4-sensor, 4-channel ABS (automatic braking system) system.
