Abstract: Cold rolled steel sheets with excellent formability have been developed by using the RH-degassing process and hot rolling technology. These steel sheets contribute to lower alloying and lower energy consumption, and meet the needs of the automotive industry. Recently, for DDQ/EDDQ products, ultra-low carbon steel sheets with titanium or niobium added have been used as a substitute for decarburized annealing steel sheets. In this paper, the technical background and mechanical properties of new steels will be introduced, based on the recent developments in steel-making and hot rolling technology in Nippon Kokan, Kawasaki.
