Electroless nickel/PTFE composites - the Niflor process
by P.R. Ebdon
International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 6, No. 4/5, 1985

Abstract: Attempts to produce an inherently self-lubricating electroless nickel have previously foundered on the delicate chemical balances that must be maintained in an electroless nickel plating tank. However, it has recently become possible through the use of patented PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, sometimes known as Teflon or Fluon) technology to codeposit this polymer with electroless nickel. Automotive application areas are briefly discussed.
