Power seat with memory

Abstract: The paper describes an electronically controlled motorcar power seat with memory. The seat features powered adjustment in eight different directions, the ability to store two sets of position information in memory, and the ability to recall, and make automatic adjustments to, either of two driving positions. The paper describes the seat control system, which incorporates the COP420L microcontroller, an N-channel MOS device with a 1K X 8-bit program memory and a 64 X 4-bit data memory. The system power supply is described, together with the output and input system interfaces. An alternative seat control system employing analogue seat-position sensors is also described.
