Abstract: The following discussed here arise from a recent treatment of the subject by Townsend and Cherchas (1980). This paper offers a reassessment of the thermodynamic considerations entailed in the rapid process of blow-down/inflation of air bag safety restraints, and offers comment on the influence of bag characteristics. Blow-down time is briefly discussed.
