Abstract: Interior noise level scatter in vehicles with four-cylinder engines can be as high as 10 dB (total) or 15 dB for the second-order component. Samples of sedans and wagons were emulated for scatter and the scatter assessed in terms of structural-acoustic transfer functions. Scatter envelopes for the two body types, which share the same front structure, are virtually interchangeable.
