Abstract: An experimental study on an effective interior noise induction method was executed through the construction of allow noise prototype car which mainly involved applying noise insulation materials to the Gemini Diesel as a base car. The process employed and the results obtained are described in the following: 1. Investigation on base car and determination of prototype car target. The most efficient noise insulation measures were sought taking the results of body acoustic and vibration characteristics measurements into consideration. It was found that the application laying importance on the most contributive panel area, full covering to seal split of bare panel, and choice of insulation materials were important for obtaining effective noise reduction. At least 3 dB(A) interior noise reduction was targeted. 2. Construction and evaluation of low noise prototype car. One piece formed type insulation materials having appropriate frequency characteristics were applied with the tight scaling of panel joint split. An interior noise reduction of 4-6dB(A) was achieved consequently. 3. Improvement in vibration transmission routes and noise source. After the amount of vibration damper was reduced through the improvement in mounting rubber characteristics being intended to reduce solid borne noise and also sound insulation was reduced by lowering source noise levels, 38 kg mass reduction was achieved.
