The impact of banking sector reform in developing economies on banking transactions security and quality: the case of Jordan

Abstract: This study traces the impact of Jordan banking reform of transaction security and quality in the time period of 1999-2008. Tellers and front office credit employees at 15 local banks in Jordan were surveyed. The results of this analysis revealed a significant improvement in the account and credit transaction quality through such actions as reducing power outage, updating information system update, reviewing information system and networks, forming committee to plan and control data integrity and risk management. The significant improvements caused by the Jordan banking reform provides vast practical and managerial implications to various decision makers, regulators in the Central Bank of Jordan and to academics. The effectiveness of these regulations provides operational management insight to improve banking transactions quality and to further impact future regulations on the banking sectors in developing economies.
