Abstract: The objective of this paper is to identify the potential and limits to the economic development of innovative technology parks that are in operation in Northeast Brazil. The findings indicate that the technology parks are potentially positive for economic development and local innovation, as the parks generate jobs, funding and educational opportunities in the region. However, the research also demonstrates that there are limits to the amount of economic and innovative development that can be generated by these technology parks, due to the current economic situation in the Northeast of Brazil.
