Abstract: Thermoluminescence and photoluminescence are observed in nanoparticle and bulk NaMgF3:Mn2+ samples. The activation energies for the two main peaks in the TL data are similar for nanoparticle and bulk samples and they are nearly independent of Mn2+ concentration. The similar trap depths suggest that they could arise from similar point defects. They also have one identified deep trap but the activation energy is significantly larger for the bulk samples. The bulk samples also have higher temperature TL peaks above 630 K. Our results show that NaMgF3:Mn2+ can potentially be used as a personal TL dosimeter.
