Abstract: During the last few years routing protocols of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) were simulated as a function of mobility, number of nodes, and size of the network but not as a function of route maintenance parameters; such as active route timeout (ART) and delete period constant (n). Here the ability of the ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol reaction is tested on random way point topology as changes in route maintenance parameters for constant scenario. This paper is subjected to AODV routing protocol performance with IEEE 802.11/b MAC protocol in random way point model for a fixed number of nodes. The simulation study of proposed routing protocol is carried out using NS-3 simulation tool. The simulation results of different 'ART' and 'n' for the performance metrics net throughput and packet delivery ratio are analysed graphically for proposed routing protocol. AODV gives maximum performance for ART = 2.5 and n = 5.
