Abstract: Decision making research often focuses on US firms, assuming the findings generalise cross-nationally. This paper examines this assumption by reviewing research considering national differences in decision making, comparing key findings with those of US studies. International decision-making cases provide illustrations to reconcile these findings and suggest where research seems needed. The cases include Swiss public TV bidding on soccer broadcasting rights, EADS selecting an assembly site for the Airbus 380, marketing strategy for a Thai paper company, and UBS investment decisions. Propositions suggest research questions.
