Abstract: In this paper, we consider a cooperative coding system based on the Distributed Turbo Product Codes (DTPC) with the extended Bose Chaudhuri Hocquenghem (eBCH) component codes. To deal with the unreliable decoding at the relay and enhance the overall decoding at the destination, we propose and study two techniques including soft information relaying and power allocation. First, at the relay, the Chase II algorithm and syndrome decoding are used to obtain the reliability values of the source data. This soft information is further exploited to generate new soft incremental redundancy for relaying. Second, to alleviate the error propagation, a method of power allocation between the source and relay is proposed. This method turns out to be very effective compared with the optimal solution from exhaustive search. The system performance in various conditions is presented and compared with extensive simulation.
