Abstract: This paper highlights the consequences of cogging torque in PMBLDC motor which results in direct impact on the performance of the motor. This research paper proposes various techniques for reducing the cogging torque such as magnet pole design, asymmetric magnets, auxiliary groove, skewing and slot less. The geometrical and theoretical analysis calculations can be verified by 2-D finite element analysis. The designed model obtained in this paper enhances the design of BLDC motors for best performance.
