Abstract: This paper describes the authors' experience in using the US EPA Gaussian models in making environmental impact statements which focus on four different fields highways, quarries, an airport and tunnels. The main problems encountered are the uncertainties in the emission factors, the lack of accounting of the complex terrain effects and the fact that the Israeli Standards relate to total NOx concentration rather than NO22.
