Abstract: The methane generation potential Lo and methane generation rate constant k are the two important parameters which have been used for methane generation evaluation. An attempt has been made in the present research paper to evaluate the methane generation at Pirana landfill site of Ahmedabad by varying the values of methane generation potential Lo and methane generation rate constant. It has been concluded that with increase in methane generation potential, there is a corresponding increase in methane emissions. However, with the rate of increase of methane generation potential, there has been a gradual decrease of the rate of methane emissions. Similarly, with increase of methane generation rate constant k, there has been insignificant increase in methane emissions.
