International Journal of Power Electronics (IJPELEC), Vol. 5, No. 2, 2013

Abstract: A new digitally controlled, bridgeless AC/DC buck converter that operates in discontinuous-input-voltage mode (DIVM) is presented. It inherits power factor correction property and draws continuous input current during conduction period. In addition, the efficiency of the proposed buck PFC rectifier is improved by adopting a bridgeless configuration. The converter also works as a voltage-doubler which reduces the size of the output capacitors. Detailed operating analysis, design criteria, and modelling of the buck converter are reported. Experimental results for verifying the theoretical analysis are also presented.
