Thermodynamic analysis of efficient recovery and utilisation of waste heat resources during sintering process

Abstract: Efficient recycling and utilisation of waste heat resources are among the primary methods in saving energy during sintering process, as waste heat resource recycling and utilisation are essentially energy conversion process. The purpose of this study is to analyse energy conversion and utilisation during the sintering process, and waste heat resources in each subsystem during the sintering process were analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results were shown that producing 1 t of sinter will generate 1439.36 MJ of waste heat resource in which sinter and sintering flue gas accounts for 70.87% and 29.13%, respectively. The external exergy loss of sin-sub was the largest among sin-sub, coo-sub and boi-sub; therefore, setting the appropriate thickness of sinter bed in the sinter cooler, controlling the flow rate of the cooling air and recycling the exergy of cooling flue gas with moderate temperature were the primary method of increasing the exergy efficiency.
