Forces on railway track due to high speed tilting trains
by S.J. Cox
International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems (IJHVS), Vol. 6, No. 1/2/3/4, 1999

Abstract: The paper describes measurements of the deflection of the track fastening system under a number of test runs of the Italian Pendolino train at different speeds on a curve on Finnish Railways (VR). The effects of changes in speed on the deflection of the fastening are discussed. The use of a mathematical model to infer the loads which must have been applied to the track to result in the deflections measured is described.
