Determination of adhesion potential using the IKH slip measuring system

Abstract: The Institute for Automotive Engineering at the University of Hanover has designed and built a high-precision slip measuring system. Using this system, it was possible to prove that the longitudinal stiffness of a tyre decreases under the influence of low longitudinal forces on slippery roads. This phenomenon could be used to determine the actual adhesion potential (Dieckmann, 1991, 1992, 1993).
