Road loads when a vehicle moves over an unevenness in a road

Abstract: A new model is developed of the intercouplings and interactions between basic vehicle subsystems when passing over an unevenness in the road surface. The model represents a tyred wheel and its basic properties, i.e. circular shape, the yield of the tyre and rolling on the road surface. By introducing this new model, we obtain a better response that also includes load forces between the wheels and the road surface. The model enables us to solve for the horizontal components of the road forces and thus to obtain a more precise road load spectrum from passing vehicles.
