Abstract: The problems of monitoring in connection with the expansion of oil extraction at the shelf of Caspian are considered. The shortcomings and limited possibilities of traditional monitoring systems and the necessity of the new approaches taking into account of current ideas of hydro toxicology and also unique and complex environment conditions of Caspian are marked. Intelligent monitoring conception, which opens new opportunities in improvement of the adequacy and efficiency of monitoring and environmental management in region, are discussed.
