Renegotiations in the post-agreement period: the future of the Kyoto protocol
by Takashi Hattori
Interdisciplinary Environmental Review (IER), Vol. 3, No. 2, 2001

Abstract: This paper considers renegotiations in the post-agreement period on the basis of previous research on the structural analysis of international negotiations. After clarifying the structure of the climate change issue in international negotiations, it presents four renegotiation scenarios and suggests paths to follow for dealing with this global issue. This analysis shows that further efforts to change configurations of national interests will be important.
