International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 26, No. 5, 2001

Abstract: Mathematical model and computer aided simulation techniques have been used to predict and analyse the steering stability of high-speed vehicles. A new vehicle dynamics simulation model, based on considering the roll motion of suspensory mass of the vehicle and the effect of side winds, has been established in this paper. The model is able to simulate the transient state of a vehicle under side winds and to analyse the steering stability and veering character of the vehicle. Some simulation results are presented and discussed.
