Abstract: From the systems engineering viewpoint, a good planning of product design can improve the quality of the product design to a great extent. In addition to well understanding of client requirements, the model of 7-design planning of product design is presented in this paper based on the previous work. The planning of products design includes design ideas, design environments, design objective, design process, design contents, design methods and the design quality evaluation methods, so named 7-design planning model. Besides the understanding of the customer requirements, the seven aspects of 7-design planning should be considered completely and planned systematically. The paper makes a detailed expatiation of the 7-design planning model of synthesised design method based on systems engineering. Finally, a specific engineering example is presented based on this 7-design planning model.
