Abstract: With increased competition in a sluggish economy, many companies are getting back to basics by re-focusing on critical operational elements and recommitting themselves to the principles on which their businesses were built. There is a need to examine a company and determine what truly makes it better than the competition. Not in terms of product or service offerings - but the internal focus of the organisation. In order to answer this question, the authors carried out an empirical survey to understand how logistics competency can help growing manufacturing sector in India. The present findings of study have identified transportation as the bottleneck. In order to achieve superior performance an initiative must be taken to create infrastructure which support logistics. This study is equally true for all developing countries and an indicator bright future for 'infrastructure sector'.
