International Journal of Vehicle Autonomous Systems (IJVAS), Vol. 10, No. 3, 2012

Abstract: Automotive frontlighting has evolved from a very simple state, where two light distributions (main beam and dipped beam) were switched manually by the driver into a complex and very powerful driver assistance system. The present paper describes the driving technologies behind this transformation, which occurred in less than 15 years time and presents some of the systems which have been developed and have now been introduced to the market.
