Abstract: Following text discusses the emergence of retail sector in the Indian context. Extensive literature survey has been done to show the health of retail sector in India and vibrancy of the Indian economy has been brought out. India is also being perceived as a favoured destination for the global players like Walmart in the organised retail segment. The retail segment in order to sustain growth needs to manipulate their processes and data well, for the same it is important to structure and integrate the information systems. There are instances of success in the form of enterprise application integration software being used.
