Abstract: This papers explores a case of intranet implementation in an Italian company, analysing communicational routines, repertoires of knowledge and the ways the Intranet changes (or reinforces) them.
Workgroups' expectations and skills affected interpretations of the intranet, along with organisational history and innovation strategies. While the company management considered this technology as leading to a new strategy in internal communication, the workgroups' interpretations were more oriented to integrate it into different ''communicational repertoires'', both integrative and substitutive of previous practice. New and old media interact with each other, contributing to emergence and erosion of temporary communities of practice.
