Abstract: The aim of this work is to synthesise a porous nanocrystalline TiO2 electrode and a new kind of solid polymer electrolyte poly(N-methyl 4-vinylpyridine iodide) (PVPI) doped with an Ionic Liquid (IL) 1-ethyl 3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate (EMImSCN) for Dye-Sensitised Solar Cell (DSSC) application. The fabrication process of nanoporous TiO2 electrode as well as electrical, structural and photoelectrochemical properties of polymer electrolytes have been examined using various experimental tools. A novel DSSC has also been fabricated, which shows overall efficiency of 0.76% at 1 sun condition.
