Abstract: The selection of the most appropriate machine tool for the manufacturing sector is one of the strategic issues that may adversely affect the productivity, flexibility and manufacturing capability of an industry. The selection of an apt machine tool among various alternatives is a kind of multi criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. The objective of this paper is to develop an evaluation model based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) and VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) under fuzzy environment and select the best machine tool among various alternatives. The FAHP is used to compute the criteria weights whereas fuzzy VIKOR is used to obtain the final ranking of machine tool alternatives. A numerical example of machine tool selection is used to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed model.
