Abstract: This paper pursues two objectives. For a study of user satisfaction of mobile phone music, we first classify mobile phone music into three types, which are ring tones, connection tones and downloaded music files, and we measure the user satisfaction with an exploratory study. The user satisfaction is conceptualised by the constructs of quality, recognition of music costs and types, product value and expected benefit. Next, structural equation modelling is conducted to find causal effects to determine the extent to which these affect the expected benefit. For a study of effectiveness, we define effectiveness as a ratio of overall benefits to costs acquired from mobile phone music services. After deriving factors affecting the cost and benefit construct, we suggest a method to compute the effectiveness value by developing computational formula.
