Abstract: This paper investigates the optimal controller design problem for a networked control system (NCS) with medium access constraints and network-induced delays. Firstly, we restrict feasible communication sequences to periodic ones to preserve the structural properties of the plant, which separates the selection of the communication sequences from the controller design. Secondly, the discrete NCS is transformed into a normal form that contains no time delay, which is based on the corresponding communication sequences and time-delay processing technology. Then, an optimal controller is proposed to stabilise the closed-loop networked control system. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the advantage of the proposed approach.
