Abstract: Photoacoustic technique (PA) has been applied to study the optical and thermal properties of CdSe quantum dots (QDs) with different particles sizes. CdSe QDs were fabricated by the chemical solution deposition (CD) technique. The PA spectra shifted towards lower absorption energy region with increasing the particle size. The same spectra were compared to those obtained by a regular UV-Vis absorption. The sizes of nanoparticles were estimated using effective mass approximation model (EMA) giving radii ranging from 2.16 nm to 2.62 nm, these values were comparable to those obtained by transmission electron microscope (TEM) and x-ray (XRD diffraction). The thermal diffusivity (D) and thermal conductivity (k) of CdSe QDs were also studied using the PA technique. The calculated values of D and k are at least one order of magnitude larger than that of bulk value.
