Abstract: About one-fifth of the federal budget is allocated to the US Department of Defence; thus, improvements in military decision-making can potentially slash billions from the federal budget while simultaneously improving operational efficiency in a wide variety of military functions. We provide a comprehensive review of published military applications of AHP that demonstrate actual and potential benefits of using AHP-based methodologies to analyse problems within a military domain. We also offer resulting insights on implementation, research trends, integrated methodologies as well as conjectures regarding current use of AHP by practitioners in military applications.
