Abstract: An efficient approach for direct counting of polynomial coefficients of rational scattering parameter functions in z-domain for planar microstrip structure utilising opened and short-circuited stubs is described here. Wave digital networks (WDNs) which represent digital models of microstrip structures are observed. WDNs are generally seen as a combination of multiport subnetworks. Response in WDNs – the network scattering parameters are obtained by use of wave matrices. An ultra-wideband filter and two structures with cross-junction opened stubs realised in microstrip technique, proving the response accuracy of the new technique, are given.
