Abstract: Intensive short-term education is becoming highly sought after by adult learners. Intensive learning, shown as a higher-productivity process, completed in a shorter duration than a traditional course, is differentiated from the accelerated one that is just compressed in time. Various factors of intensive learning are considered, based on contemporary theories and practices. Two models of the instructional process: parallel and sequential, and two notions characterising today's adult learner's needs: convenience and zone of comfort, are discussed. These approaches can be implemented in both onsite and online educational formats.
