Abstract: This study explores the different aspects of organisational commitment and its determinants for Information Technology (IT) professionals. IT-dependent companies should consider organisational commitment and ensure that relevant issues are properly addressed in their human resource strategies. The study employs Meyer and Allen's approach to develop a new instrument to measure organisational commitment and its determinants. They defined three dimensions: Affective, continuance and normative commitment. The study covered IT professionals in Turkish private banks. Results showed that affective commitment is higher among IT professionals than the other types of commitment meaning that they work in their organisations because they want to.
