Abstract: To be able to use information technology effectively and efficiently, unified and integrated medical encounters are urgently needed, especially in the paediatrics field. The tendency to unify medical encounter is relatively old and has already begun in the ''pre-computer era'', but unfortunately most attempts were all unsuccessful for various reasons. Our deep belief is that the common factor for their unsuccessfulness was the inappropriateness of the method/methodology being used and the neglecting of many system theory principles especially soft-system's ones. It is the objective of this paper to briefly introduce method engineering and its application in the design of the UNCLE (UNified Child's heaLth carE Encounter).
