Abstract: What are the development dynamics of the different competing communication technologies in the emerging countries under the transitional contexts? The previous research on innovation dynamics in the emerging countries mainly focuses on technology paradigms and has paid little attention to the interaction of the market demands with institutional uncertainties. Drawing upon the actor-network theory framework, we analyse the evolution of different competing wireless technologies in the largest developing country. This research hopes to provide an analytical framework to understand the development process and key institutional dynamics of competing information technologies under the emerging contexts.
