Abstract: This study aims to analyse the extent to which the implementation of product value recovery practices affects the emergence of capabilities furnishing competitive advantage. For this purpose, we considered a sample of 123 Spanish factories holding ISO 14001 certification. Our findings show that all the practices examined in the study (design, manufacturing and waste treatment) facility simultaneously the creation of complex capabilities based on long-term commitments.
