Abstract: In this paper, we present the work towards ORSIS, an ontology-based personal document management system which uses a reasoning engine to allow for knowledge discovery and inference. This work also presents the potentials of knowledge representation technologies, their performance and applicability for personal document management systems. As part of ORSIS, we also have developed simple but powerful query language which allows executing selection request with different joint criteria. Appropriate grammar has been developed and parser/lexer code was implemented. Users have all the necessary interface features to provide complex queries or to build search request by using appropriate dialogs.
