Abstract: Bounds to error probability have been presented by various authors like Chu and Chueh (1966), TOUSSAINT (1978) and Hellman and Raviv (1970) in terms of Shannon entropy or its generalisations. The existing results depend only on probability distribution associated with the experiment. It does not take into account the effectiveness of the outcomes of the experiment. Large amount of work on probability of error has been done by Ben-Bassat and Raviv (1978) and Gupta and Arora (2005). This paper is a generalisation in which the concept of probability of error for Renyi's entropy with preferences is presented.
