Abstract: In this study, thermodynamic and thermoeconomic analysis procedures are applied to a subcooled and superheated vapour compression refrigeration system for different refrigerants. By thermodynamic analysis, Coefficient of Performance (COP), irreversibilities and exergetic efficiencies of a theoretical refrigeration system are determined to evaluate the system performance. With the thermoeconomic analysis procedure, optimum working conditions such as condenser, evaporator, subcooling and superheating heat exchangers and temperatures are determined. A cost function is specified for the optimum conditions. The analyses are made for three refrigerants: R152A, R410A and R600A.
