Abstract: E-mail is one of the often used communication methods; however, a lot of e-mail documents including useless information are distributed to computers. To solve this problem, we propose a method to filter out unimportant e-mail documents by judging the content of each document. Our method constructs personal profiles. They consist of multi-attribute values such as 'Sender', 'Theme' and 'Type' of each document. By using the profile, this method can distinguish whether a new e-mail document is important or not for the users. It is found that the accuracy of this method is higher than that of the traditional methods.
