Abstract: This paper intends to explore the role of law in establishing and directing corporate social responsibility in Peru mining sector for the purpose of awakening the concern of those involved and interested in the topic of identifying actions that would be most appropriate to promote and support the development of CSR in the mining industry in Peru. For this purpose we will review the legal framework in Peru and specially the legal domain in the mining sector through the special view of the Green Paper from the European Commission on Corporate Social Responsibility as a tool of reference since it represents the European Union's decision of being the leader in promoting CSR behaviour and the starting point, in an elaborate document of organised thoughts, lines of behaviour, guidelines and developments on CSR for EU's companies for fostering a new framework to promote CSR. There is no other document with such an aim and such challenges.
