International Journal of Private Law (IJPL), Vol. 4, No. 3, 2011

Abstract: The main goal of the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to International Transportation by Air (Warsaw Convention) was to establish a legal framework for carriage of passengers, luggage and goods. Since then, various national and international laws have been enacted regulating air carrier's liabilities to passengers and baggage. This paper will discuss the air carrier's liability in the international transportation in the event of accidents to passengers. It will analyse the damages sustained in the event of death, wounding or any other bodily injury to a passenger if the accident in question took place on board an aircraft or during any of the embarking or disembarking operations.
