Abstract: In this paper, we describe the Ukranian experience in telematics-based education. Specific features of Ukrainian telecommunications and the Ukrainian audience are considered. To introduce telematics in schools and higher educational institutions it is necessary to organise appropriate and effective telematics-based teacher training. A WWW-based course on distance course design and development for teacher training is presented. The course target audience, pedagogical strategies, learning styles and flexibility dimensions are considered. Major results of distance learning experiments in Ukraine are described. The paper includes perspective directions of telematics-based education progress in Ukraine.
