Abstract: We present a modification to the wavelet-based cascaded adaptive method of Xu et al. (2007) for removal of baseline wandering in pulse signals. We have applied it on IPG-recorded radial arterial pulse signals, using an extension of Panā€“Tompkins' algorithm (1985) for automatic detection of onset points and peaks of successive periods. The results show better performance of our method on a large sample of radial arterial pulse waveforms of adult Indians. Spectral analysis of this data shows significant scope of a power energy ratio in early diagnosis of some cardiac problems.
