International Journal of Integrated Supply Management (IJISM), Vol. 6, No. 1, 2011

Abstract: In the present market scenario, there are many challenges that are forcing the existing food supply chains for revamp. However, increasing global competition necessitates identifying right avenues for investing efforts and resources for such improvements. For this reason, it is important to thoroughly understand various aspects of Food Supply Chain Management (FSCM), the purposes for which it has been used in the past, the benefits of its applications and the obstacles that have been faced in its use. Keeping this in view, this paper presents a detailed review of literature on food supply chains based on 134 papers published in different journals between 1994 and 2009. Furthermore, it develops an elaborate framework for its classification and codification. The aim is to show the evolution of research in this area during these years and to provide a roadmap to facilitate the application of FSCM in the future.
